For the APA paper
Students will read Unit VI of Wagenfeld, 2016 and select an area of interest within the traditional or emerging practice areas or emerging trends in the OT profession.
Students will conduct a database search and print a list of five (5) references published within the last 10 years that relate to the chosen area of interest At least two (2) of the references should be from peer- reviewed articles. The remaining three (3) can be from reputable websites. The reference list has to be in APA format.
Students will write a three-page paper on their area of interest using APA format.
For the paper, students should select at least one of the peer-reviewed research articles from their list and they may complement with any of the other references from the list. Although no headings are required, the paper should have an introductory portion, a body which has to include researched information and personal view, as well as a conclusion portion.
Students will include all researched information from the relevant sources accurately paraphrased and all in-text citation will have to follow APA format.
Students will submit assignment in electronic format to demonstrate their familiarity with use of technology.

Research
Complete a search on a library database with access to OT professional journals.
Select at least one- peer-reviewed research article to cite and reference. Include paraphrased information for written and presentation assignment. Highlight sections in the article(s) that you have paraphrased and submit article(s) to instructor. Complement researched information with textbook or reputable website (such as www.aota.org), cite and reference.
APA style format and content
Cover page: tabs, centering, page numbers, and running head as per APA style.
Font size, paragraph organization, headings, use of paraphrasing and citations are accurate.
Content is clear and topic is well organized in paragraphs with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion.
Reference page is in correct APA format. All references within 10 years.

Submit paper and attachment electronically to instructor to meet deadline.
Attachment is uploaded without problems. In the event that either Blackboard or Turnitin are not available, student will communicate to instructor and submit paper as an attachment via email, and follow-up with instructor as needed
Oral presentation
Prepare a 5 to7-minute presentation using PowerPoint or another multimedia presentation format. Include:
Why is this area of interesting to you as a student? The answer to this questions should include a balance between your personal story and experiences and researched information used in your paper.
What kind of personal skills/abilities you possess that will be useful in this area
Summarize paper. Include in-text citations as pertinent and reference slide. Citations and references in the last slide have to be in APA format

EVALUATION RUBRIC
Student needs to be aware that according to department policy delineated in the policy, assignments not turned in on time will have a penalty of 10% per day.
Electronic submission of the paper is due by 8:00 am the first day of class, week 2. After that instructor will submit for student for a deduction of 5 points according to rubric. This is only for day one after due date. After that 10% deduction/day applies.
All hard copies submitted after 8:05 am of the first day of class, week 2 will receive a 10% deduction per day.
All students need to be prepared to present for day one of presentation. Hard copy of presentation (or email attachment) due by 8:05 am day one. After that, 10% deduction applies.
